Floating Teleprompter: Read Your Script Inside the Camera App or TikTok

Want to shoot in the Camera app, TikTok or CapCut without looking down at notes? A floating teleprompter shrinks your script into a Picture in Picture window that floats over any recording app. SpeakCam’s floating prompter also follows your voice: speak, and the script keeps up.

How a floating teleprompter works on iPhone

iOS has no floating-window permission like Android. The only thing allowed to sit on top of other apps is the system’s Picture in Picture. SpeakCam renders your script into a PiP window, so it stays above the Camera app, TikTok, CapCut or Instagram — and because those apps record the camera feed, the window never ends up in your footage.

Turn it on in three steps

  1. Open a script in SpeakCam and tap “Prompter” in the bottom bar
  2. Tap the “Float” chip on the left of the chip row — the prompter shrinks into a floating window
  3. Switch to the Camera app or any recording app, hit record, and read while you shoot

Voice-following keeps working while floating

Once floating, SpeakCam keeps listening in the background and scrolls the script to wherever you are. Only an app that takes exclusive control of the microphone switches it to constant speed, and it switches back as soon as the mic is free. You can also pick constant-speed or manual mode in settings.

  • Tap the window to hide it, double-tap to enlarge or shrink, drag it anywhere
  • Three window shapes (wide, standard, tall) and font sizes from 24 to 64
  • Shooting with a separate camera? Your phone stays a pure prompter and the mic is never taken

When it makes the most sense

  • You like the image quality or filters of the Camera app or a third-party camera and only miss a prompter
  • You shoot straight inside TikTok or Reels and don’t want to import into an editor
  • You rehearse a live stream with the script floating over the streaming app

FAQ

Does the floating teleprompter get recorded into the video?+

No. The Camera app and third-party apps record the camera feed; the PiP window only shows on your screen. Screen recording is the one exception.

Does voice-following still work while floating?+

Yes. In practice it keeps working while the Camera app and third-party apps record; only an app that takes the microphone exclusively switches it to constant speed automatically.

Is the floating teleprompter free?+

Script management is free forever. The floating prompter is a Pro feature: new users get 3 free full sessions, then a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
